There is an app with live results, a group chat comparing times, and a quiet pressure to do more, push harder, optimise everything. It is easy to become the most involved parent on the pool deck and believe that is the same as being the most helpful one.

It is not. The swimmers who go furthest, and enjoy it most, rarely have the most involved parents. They have the most steadying ones. This guide gives you the handful of habits that keep you on the steadying side.

After a self-paced guide, you have

  • The one number worth tracking, which is their own personal best, not the kid in lane four
  • How to support without steering, and let your swimmer own their goals
  • A race-day plan where you are the pit crew, not the driver
  • The car ride home handled: feeling first, takeaway later, whatever the result
  • A reset for your own comparison habit when the group chat lights up

What you walk away holding

  • The Steady Swim Parent guide, yours to keep and print
  • A race-day plan you will actually use at the next meet
  • Your own comparison reset line, ready when you need it

    Your guide

Read it in the car park between training and dinner, and start with race day.

Every session: a short video, one practical task, one reflection. Watching is not the work. Doing is the work.

This is for

  • Parents of competitive swimmers, new to the pathway or a few seasons in
  • Anyone feeling the pressure of the results app and the group chat
  • Parents who want to help and are not sure where help ends and steering begins
  • Families who want the season to feel steady, not fraught

This is not for

  • Parents after technical coaching advice for their swimmer — that belongs with the coach, and this guide says to leave it there
  • If you want results guaranteed, no honest guide promises that; this is about how you support, not what your child swims

Questions, answered

Is this videos or a written guide?

A short written guide you download and keep, built to be read in the car park between training and dinner, and used the same week.

Is this coaching for my child?

No. It is support for you, the parent. Technical coaching belongs to your child's coach, and one of the most useful things in the guide is knowing where to leave it.

My child isn't elite. Is it still for us?

Yes. It is for any family in competitive swimming, at any level. The habits matter most in the ordinary seasons, not just the fast ones.

What if it isn't right for me?

Email us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. No forms, no friction.

What comes after the guide?

Behind the Blocks is the full five-week course it comes from, with a written Swim Parent Playbook you keep. If you would like coaching eyes on your swimmer's stroke, Swimly's video analysis and sessions across Sydney are the natural next step.

This is parent support, not technical coaching or clinical advice. Stroke and training belong with your child's coach, and if you ever have a persistent concern about your child's wellbeing, your GP is the right next step. The guide keeps to its lane and says so. Read our child safety statement.

The water doesn't judge you. Neither do we.
