Child safety at Swimly+
Swimly+ is used by swimmers under 18. We treat their safety and privacy as a core part of the product, not an add-on. This page explains how, in plain language.
Consent
A swimmer under 18 takes part only with a parent or guardian's consent, recorded at enrolment. The parent controls the account until they choose to give the swimmer their own sign-in.
Minimal information
- We collect a first name, last initial and birth year — not a full date of birth.
- A swimmer has no public profile, ever.
- There is no swimmer-to-swimmer messaging or social feed of any kind.
Private reflections
Written reflections are private to the swimmer by default. Parents see broad progress and anything the swimmer chooses to share. The swimmer is told, before they answer, whether a response will be shared.
Uploads and coach access
Photos, audio and video a swimmer submits are stored privately and are visible only to the swimmer, the operating parent, and Swimly's coaching staff for feedback. Files are served through expiring links, never public URLs, and location data is stripped from uploaded photos.
Trained eyes, clear escalation
Swimly staff who review submissions follow an escalation process: anything in a submission that raises a wellbeing concern is flagged to the program owner for a human decision, promptly. We do not use automated diagnosis.
What this program is, and is not
Swimly+ programs teach swimming-related skills, including mental skills for racing. They are not therapy or mental-health treatment. If a swimmer is experiencing persistent anxiety, low mood, disordered eating, self-harm, or any crisis, that needs real care: a GP is the right first step, and in an emergency call 000. Kids Helpline is available on 1800 55 1800.
