Swimly+ · For competitive swimmers 10–16 · two weeks

Races are won in the head as much as in the water.

A two-week mental skills program — two sessions a week — that gives your swimmer a pre-race routine they trust, focus they can hold, and a way back from the swims that sting.

Most swimmers train the body and leave the mind to chance. Then they walk to the blocks with a racing heart and swim a race they didn't plan — watching lane four instead of their own black line.

The gap between training times and race times is almost never fitness. It's nerves without a routine, focus without an anchor, and disappointment without a way to reset. All three are skills, and skills can be trained.

After two weeks, your swimmer has

  • A written race routine they've practised — night before to the start signal
  • A 90-second behind-the-blocks reset: breathing, one rehearsal, their trigger word
  • A focus cue that brings attention back when it drifts
  • Confidence built from evidence, not pep talks
  • The three-question review that turns any race — good or bad — into Tuesday's training focus
  • Their nerves and confidence measured at the start and the end, so the change is visible

What your swimmer walks away holding

  • Their personal Race Ready Plan — built from their own answers, printable
  • A confidence evidence bank they keep adding to all season
  • A completion certificate

The sessions

  1. 0

    Starting Point

Where you are now, and where this program takes you.

  2. 1

    Control Your Focus

Separate what you control from what you don't — then aim at it.

  3. 2

    Build Race Confidence

Confidence is evidence, gathered on purpose.

  4. 3

    Create Your Race Routine

A repeatable routine from the night before to the start signal.

  5. 4

    Race, Review and Reset

Respond like a racer — after the good swims and the hard ones.

Every session: a short video, one practical task, one reflection. Watching is not the work. Doing is the work.

This is for

  • Swimmers ~10–16 who train hard but race below their training
  • Kids who go quiet or spin out in marshalling
  • Swimmers who carry one bad heat into the whole meet
  • Parents who want to help without adding pressure — there's a session for you every week

This is not for

  • Swimmers looking for stroke technique — that's coaching, and we do it in person
  • A swimmer dealing with anxiety that reaches beyond racing — that deserves real care first, and the program says so plainly

For parents

You give consent, see broad progress, and get a short parent session each week — what to say before races, how to respond after disappointment, how to notice progress the clock doesn't show. Your swimmer's written reflections stay private to them; the plan they build is shared with you by design.

Questions, answered

How much time does it take?

One short session at a time — a few minutes of video, one action at training. Most swimmers do two or three sessions a week alongside normal training.

Will I see what my swimmer writes?

You see their broad progress, the plan they build, and a weekly parent session of your own. Their written reflections are private to them by default — that privacy is what makes the answers honest, and the program tells them before any answer that will be shared.

Does my swimmer's coach need to be involved?

No. The program stays out of technique on purpose. Many coaches like seeing the race routine it produces — sharing it is your swimmer's choice.

What if it isn't right for us?

Email us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. No forms, no friction.

When does it start?

Whenever your swimmer does. The first session opens immediately, then a new one lands every three or four days — two a week — so the whole program is done inside two weeks, while the season is still on.

Race Ready Mindset teaches swimming-related mental skills. It is not therapy, and it never pretends to be — the program includes clear guidance for parents on where that line sits, and our coaches follow a safeguarding process on everything a swimmer submits. Read our child safety statement.
